There are many music promos that are already available with lots of different ideas that we could do but when we were thinking of ideas for our pitch we decided on some ideas and found some other music promos that gave us some inspiration.
Ok Go- End Love is all based on stop motion. We liked this because of its originality and how it can give us a bit of a challenge to do a stop motion themed music video. When we do our music promo though it wouldn't just consist of stop motion throughout the whole video, it would be broken up by having a live performance and a campfire/fireworks scene mixed into it all. The stop motion will consist of the band messing about or doing a dance routine that is in time with the music and can be filmed using stop motion. In the End Love video they wear bright clothing that makes them stand out against all backgrounds which made us think of what sort of costumes we could have for the band to wear throughout these shots within the promo.
Dario G-Sunchyme is a music video that is based in the African plains and has people dressed in extravagant animal costumes that are animals from this setting. The costumes involve head to toe body paint including headdresses and some clothing over the body. This gave us as a group inspiration for costumes and maybe some moves that the band could do for the stop motion part of the video. By wearing costumes similar to this then it allows the band to be seen, to be creative with themselves and the music video and also, to make the video slightly different to what others may produce.
Owl City feat Carley Rae Jepsen - Good Times gave us inspiration for what we could do for the firework/campfire scene. Throughout this video you see two groups of people heading towards a destination that ends up being the same one in the woods with a cabin. The two groups of people are meeting each other there and have a campfire party. They are all dancing about in the woods with a campfire in the middle of everyone having a good time. This links to the genre that our song is which us as a group is a fun genre and the band are a group of fun lads. Because of the time that we are filming (around bonfire night) we would be able to get some really good shots of fire works and bonfire shots with the band and some friends and bystanders around a campfire/bonfire.
Mike Fantastic - Turn Off the Lights gave us inspiration for live performance shots. This video consists of Mike Fantastic (the band) messing about backstage of their gigs and shots of the live gig showing the crowds response and some shots of single band members playing their instruments/singing. This is a fun video with good lighting and different camera aspects for the live performance which gave us ideas of where to position our camera's around the gig that the band are doing. Also, it would publicise the venue and 'big up' the band as we will capture the fun that the crowd are having and the band having fun so when people watch the promo they will hopefully want to see the band or listen to the song more.
